Dayhike location TBA (between Vancouver and Mission)

Service Description

In our Intro to Hiking course, you'll do an online course at your own pace, watching fun videos and answering quizzes. We'll do a quick 30 minute Zoom meetup so that you can "meet" your fellow Babes (usually at 8pm on the Tuesday night before our day hike), and then meet up at our secret location bright and early on our dayhike morning, rain or shine! In this course, you'll learn: what to wear, what to pack, how to pick trails that will work for you, how to be a thoughtful and respectful hiker, and how to be safe and confident when you hit the trails! Groups will be kept small and intimate, so everyone will get lots of one-on-one time with the guide, and everyone will get a chance to lead. You'll gain insight about our beautiful forests and geological features in addition to tips and tricks to keep you safe, comfy, and gazing about in awe when you're out in the woods. All levels are welcome, keeping in mind that our dayhike will be 2-3 hours in duration (including breaks for oohing, aahhing, and snacking!), with approximately 150m elevation gain over the course of the day. Total hiking distance will be approximately 5km. Participants will need to be able to drive themselves to our meetup spot and we will then caravan to the trailhead. Dayhike will take place somewhere between Vancouver and Mission (in the Lower Mainland). Here's what's included in your Beginning Babes Intro to Hiking course: - comprehensive online course with fun videos and quizzes - quick Zoom meetup to break the ice and put names to faces of our fellow Babes - 2-3 hour dayhike in a beautiful location with lots to see and enjoy! - optional post-hike hangout at a nearby local coffee spot to chat about how it went and ask any other questions you might have - lots of resources to peruse after the course is done so that you can keep hiking with confidence and joy! - access to a Babe Alumnae community page so you can connect and share with your fellow Babes Recommended for participants 16 and up, please. Participants younger than 16 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Cancellation Policy

Babes in the Woods operates the dayhike portion of the course rain or shine. Dayhikes will not be cancelled due to weather except for in extreme circumstances. RESCHEDULING: To reschedule your course, please notify us 7 days in advance of your dayhike. We would be pleased to help you find another weekend that will work for you. CANCELLATIONS: Babes who need to cancel outright will receive a 100% refund if we are notified at least 7 days in advance of your dayhike, and a 50% refund if we are notified any fewer than 7 days prior to your dayhike. ILLNESS OR INJURY: If you need to miss our dayhike due to unexpected illness or injury, please give us the courtesy of letting us know at your earliest convenience, and we would be happy to reschedule the dayhike portion of your course. Preference will be given to rescheduling, rather than outright cancelling, dayhikes due to illness or injury. Refunds will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed if they fall within the fewer-than-seven-days window. Thank you for understanding!
